if I were a drone who would I be hovering now the dissenter is the future mark, scores going up and down if I were in charge of the secret police I'd put everybody on a list sorted alphabetically if I were a badge kicking in your door I'd get in and then I'd get out again cos I'd have to go find more if I were the One deciding who should live or die I'd calculate all the benefit to my grand design when you get their phone call don't give the wrong answer when you see them coming just turn your head and look away it feels like a dream burning the back of my eyes standing in the line for rations upon which we all rely playing out the fantasy of the puppeteer hidden from view I don't need no damn strings pulling me and you don't need them pulling on you when you get their phone call don't give the wrong answer when you see them coming just turn your head and look away when you get their phone call don't give the wrong answer

when I was a young boy, things were bad then as I got older, things got really bad the leader was appointed on a hanging chad now the drones are everywhere, it's so f-ing sad when they passed the legislation labor automation act humans were displaced with robots it's too late now to react incessant paranoia to be taken away now the drone gestapo is here to stay my friends are disappearing, no trace or sign I know they're gonna come for me, it's just a matter of time if I was a free man, I'd light it up on fire is there something I can do to quell this deep desire to do away with the G.U.A. is all that I conspire even just the thought of this, subject me to the wire I can hear the buzzing of the panic drones it's beyond help now to be left alone going through the strike list, just one hit at a time when they put the walls up, well you'll just have to climb
3.
It's hard to grow up in the shadow of the drones the streets are littered with rusty trombones our life's predetermined but the future is unknown it's hard to grow up in the shadow of the drones you won't feel a thing the needle penetrates everything your blood starts to boil with sodium pentathol I stand at my station with my soldering iron four hundred parts an hour to keep up with the line tethered to my biosupply with no place to hide assembling new aircraft for Global Unified u won't feel, u won't feel a thing
4.
I spent so long wondering how I could get it so wrong why I couldn't trust, why my love had turned to dust now we're here for a single reason at the moment of truth, there was none the different places we would be if you could have been real with me and now I'm questioning my sanity somewhere that I wouldn't be they say the truth will set you free but the joke is on me the twilight fades in the bed you made played like a piece on a chessboard and I've been a mess, lord knows I've tried so hard to hold on to illusions for so long truth I could feel in my heart through every stone faced denial and I wonder where I'd be if you could have been real with me but the joke is on me and now I'm questioning my sanity somewhere that I wouldn't be maybe the truth has set you free but the joke is on me

the desert sky is where I call my home the endless road is mine to run alone the freezing night ten million stars above shine down on me to see the ones I love the feverish day in waves of heat comes on rolls over me the life I used to live rolls over me the love I have to give

Enemies List 03:40
Thirty thousand drones are buzzing like mosquitos in the sky Four hundred fifty million shells to make sure you can die Everything you say and do is captured to be used against you They aren't waiting anymore, initiating civil war Enemies list Detention camps that will provide protection from the world outside Reeducate you while you wait you'll learn the glory of the state Down the barrel of a gun they'll be securing everyone Explosions rattling the walls as one by one, insurgents fall Enemies list The database computes your score No matter what you're fighting for Your given right just to exist Ends when you're on the list
7.
it took a long time to build it won't take a long time to fill it in the mind's eye of the builders the world's a prison that's been gilded in the disposition matrix, there's a non-zero chance of being targeted for murder by a drone and the count of the names rises exponentially as every one that's cut down creates three and they're scoring all your phone calls for the key word that makes you fall you could stop this once it's started if the builders could be thwarted "it really is like swatting a fly you can do it forever and you feel nothing how often do you think about killing a fly" what if they had a war and nobody came they'll be raining down the missiles just the same from the comfort of an easy chair 10,000 miles away they'll be dragging you before your judgment day

line up here against the wall the tetra scanner reveals all and if you don't cooperate you'll be disappeared no hesitation I don't want to die in a globalist deathcamp I don't want to die in a civil war They're coming in the night like a thief through the window They're coming in the morning beating down the door checkpoint madness never ends the written or the spoken word instead compliance with the mandate is required you wouldn't want to say so otherwise all the way down where memories can never be found all the way there so far away from the open air I don't want to die in a globalist deathcamp I don't want to die in a civil war They're coming in the night like a thief through the window They're coming in the morning beating down the door They're coming for me in a helicopter They're coming for you in an armored car I don't want to die in a globalist death camp I don't want to be a prisoner of war I don't want to live in the FEMA trailer I don't want to be on the train car I don't want to die in a globalist death camp I don't want to be a prisoner of war

Go Anywhere 04:49
if I could go anywhere I'd be far away out of sight and out of mind somewhere they won't stay if I could go anywhere I'd be there with you no matter the surroundings it'd be all that's true if I could go anywhere I'd be far away if I could go anywhere I'd be in the sun radiating everything with a soul in one if I could go anywhere I'd be free at last open up to everyone and release the past if I could go anywhere through this time and space I'd find everyone who ever left the world displaced if I could go anywhere I would see you smile and leave behind my sadness for a little while if I could go anywhere I'd be there with you no matter the surroundings it'd be all that's true

in the dead of the night when the feeling grows and you're awakened by the sound of the hummingdrones in the heat of the day when the sun bears down do you imagine that they're holding you facedown secret listening machines in every wall secret listening machines to hear you call they're filling the sky and they block out the sun this is how we ensure the safety of everyone do you remember a time before the world went down we were too proud to kneel at the foot of the golden crown secret listening machines report position secret listening machines triangulation analyze the stream for the code words visualize the dream of total control send the instructions to the nearest drone it won't be far away, it won't be far away

In My Sleep 04:29
in my sleep I'm begging you to come back in my sleep I'm begging you to relax here's to all our bitter endings and all the wasted time pretending I know that nothing's as it seems when the world just kills what's not meant to be I'd like to get my money back now don't leave me here flat on my back now with a thousand miles laid out before us gods of love and grace ignore us I know that nothing's as it seems when the world just kills what's not meant to be I know that it's all for the best when the sun burns out on your happiness

Stellar Wind 00:36

Under the choking sky, we walk in a single file line Towards the power plant door, the same as the day before The elevator drops through the shaft We fall through the toxic updraft As my eyes adjust to the black I don't know if I'll come back We give our lives to keep the fires lit We don't know how we'll see the end of it We give our lives to keep the fires lit Hacking at the walls in the dark, I set off a shower of sparks Ignite a reaction chain, fills the tunnel with screaming flame We give our lives to keep the fires lit We don't know how we'll see the end of it And in the panic and the chaos I think I might just see a way out When the Guardians have turned their backs And the tethering machine has collapsed I dive below the wall of smoke My servitude has been revoked

Achilles 03:54
I've been on the run so long I don't know asleep from awake but when I close my eyes I think I see what road to take the cloud of birds, the buzzing sound you can hear as they're swarming you all around no one has managed to escape them yet but there's some kind of weakness I bet yeah there's some kind of weakness I bet I built a rebel band from the families of the disappeared we had to sign so that they wouldn't hear all of us were united by a dream to put an end to their rule no one has managed to escape them yet but there's some kind of weakness I bet in hiding, something kept from long ago a secret device, press and pull on the wires sound escapes, vibrates, escalates weeping its tears of joy weeping its tears of joy we had to find a flaw in their armor somewhere when I pull the wires it is vibrating the air amplify the sound and you can feel it shaking the drones will hit the ground and it's there for the taking
18.
Shockwave 04:12
the plans are put in place, the time to strike is now I've readied the device and sworn my solemn vow I've set up all the decoys, willing to die today a single drop of justice in an ocean of decay the drones are flying towards me, the strap weighs on my arm I activate the system, they're sounding the alarm my fingers rip the wires, a piercing howl tears forth the drones start shattering and wildly spin off course I'm sending out a shockwave, through this endless night I may not see tomorrow, but at least we'll give a fight even as the first wave splinters, the second storms in place needles and exploding fragments pass across my face it's all enough to stand my ground, tear off another chord as the drones explode around me, is liberty restored? I'm sending out a shockwave, through this endless night I may not see tomorrow, but at least we'll give a fight I'm sending out a shockwave for those I've loved and lost I will not leave the high ground, no matter what the cost and in the moment of victory, my pride becomes too strong I lost my concentration -- I did something wrong the third wave closes on me, the needle hits the vein I'm laying motionless in the mechanical rain

about

Dear Frank,

The Global Unified Army has taken over and now controls our government and corporations. There is a perpetual surveillance of everything everyone says and does to monitor for potential threats. We know better than to be seen or heard questioning the benevolence of the Leader. It's the only way to stay out of the re-education camps . . . or the makeshift morgues.

It's hard to remember now how all of this got started, but I do remember that it didn't used to be like this. Now the sound of the drones and the hum of the listening machines surround us everywhere. We all stayed quiet for so long, and for good reasons, but I knew that we all needed to live without this oppression.

I met Dawn inside the factory compound - - she was the only person who I could talk with and she stayed beside me despite the fever dreams that were gripping me nightly. Some of the other prisoners on the line tried to tell me not to trust Dawn completely. But I couldn't help myself - - I needed someone to confide in, even with the risk of it all. It was only later that I found out she was relaying my secret plans to revolt to the GUA wardens in exchange for whatever privileges she could extract.

Upon escaping the drone factory, I fled to the desert. I spent so many nights on the cold sand, staring up at too many stars. While I never wanted to be found, I kept wishing there were a way back to everyone. It didn't feel right to hide anymore.

Upon my return to the city, the GUA implemented Executive Order 44 and herded all non-combatant citizens into Safety Camps. I'll never forget the constant stream of explosions shaking the camp walls. Though death was certain for those outside, we still dreamed of escaping.

I found a few people, fathers and sons of the disappeared, ready to try and fight back. By a miracle, I discovered an ancient machine with metal wires under the rubble. It makes a ringing sound that disrupts all electronic devices. This weapon could be our only hope.

Tonight my makeshift band of rebels will try to battle back against the drones. If this is my last letter to you, tell Dawn that I love her and forgive her.

Your friend,
Achilles

about

Global Unified Seattle, Washington

Global Unified smashes together progressive arena rock, ambient dance/synth, and Americana to create a hybrid animal on their first self-titled concept record. The story of the album combines modern-day political observations on the nature of drone warfare and the surveillance state with a semi-futuristic spin that takes these current trends to their disturbing conclusions. ... more
